Engine Controls - MIL ON, DTC P0339, Possibly P0300-P0306

MIL Comes On With DTC P0339 and Possibly P0300 Through P0306



SYMPTOM



The MIL comes on with DTC P0339 (crankshaft position sensor [CKP] intermittent interruption). One or more DTCs P0300 - P0306 (multiple



and/or No. 1 - 6 cylinder misfire detected) may also be stored.



POSSIBLE CAUSE



If the engine is cranked with a low battery, the ECM/PCM may incorrectly judge the crankshaft sensor position.



CORRECTIVE ACTION



Update the PGM-FI software and do the CKP pattern test clear and learn procedure.



WARRANTY CLAIM INFORMATION



The normal warranty applies.



SOFTWARE INFORMATION



NOTE:



Unnecessary or incorrect repairs resulting from a failure to update the MVCI or HDS are not covered under warranty.



MVCI Control Module (CM) Update:



Application Version V3.01.14 or later



Database Update 31-AUG-2012 or later



HDS Software Version:



3.006.004 (Aug 2012) or later



Before beginning the repair, make sure that both the HDS and MVCI are updated as listed above.



Do only the updated listed in this service bulletin.



Check that the MVCI indicates the applicable program ID listed (or a later program ID) as the Recommended Update when the update begins.



If the MVCI displays This vehicle does not need an update at this time during the update, the software for this service bulletin is already installed.

REPAIR PROCEDURE



1. Update the PGM-FI software with the HDS. Refer to Service Bulletin 01-026, Updating Control Units/Modules.



2. Do the CKP pattern clear by selecting CRANK PATTERN in the HDS Adjustment menu and follow the prompts.



3. Do the CKP crank pattern learning by selecting CRANK PATTERN LEARNING in the HDS Adjustment menu and follow the prompts.
