Driver's Power Seat Feels Loose

SYMPTOM



The driver's power seat feels loose or rocks.



PROBABLE CAUSE



There is too much clearance between the saddle bracket and the slide motor in the seat rail assembly.



CORRECTIVE ACTION



Replace the driver's seat rail assembly and the height bolts.

REPAIR PROCEDURE



NOTE:



^ Before you begin, make sure you know the SRS component locations, and that you read and understand the SRS precautions and procedures



explained in the service manual.



^ Use the appropriate tool from the KTC trim tool set to avoid damage when removing parts.



^ This procedure is in an outline form that you can also use as a checklist for the repair. If you need more details on the item below, bookmark



it in the 2009- 2011 TL Service Manual, or view it online.



- Battery Disconnection/Reconnection



1. Adjust the steering wheel all the way up and all the way in.



2. Remove the driver's head restraint.

3. Slide the driver's seat all the way forward. Carefully pry up on the bottom of the anchor cover using the appropriate trim tool to release the hooks



and tab.



4. Lower the driver's seat cushion to its lowest position.



5. Remove the seat belt lower anchor bolt.

6. Adjust the driver's seat cushion to its highest position.



7. Remove the end covers from the back of both dnver's seat tracks.



8. Remove the seat mounting bolts from the rear.



9. Slide the driver's seat all the way back, and remove the seat mounting bolts from the front.



10. Do the battery terminal disconnection procedure, then wait at least 3 minutes before removing the seat.



NOTE:



Make sure the seat cushion is raised to its highest position in order to access the seat adjuster assembly TORX bolts later in this procedure.

11. Lift up the front of the seat, then detach the harness clips. Disconnect the seat wire harness connector and the side airbag connector.



12. With the help of an assistant, carefully remove the driver's seat through the front door opening.



13. Remove the upper rail outer cover.



14. Remove the dnver's seat belt buckle center anchor bolt, then remove the buckle. Detach the three harness clips.

15. Remove the slide motor cover.



16. Disconnect the slide motor connector and harness clip.



17. At the left rear corner of the seat assembly, disconnect the driver's seat position sensor connector, and detach the harness clip.

18. Remove the TORX bolts from each corner of the seat rail assembly. Discard the bolts.



19. Remove the seat rail assembly from the seat, and lay it on a clean flat surface.



20. Remove the right rear seat track end cover from the old seat rail assembly, and install it on the new one

21. Loosely install the new seat rail assembly onto the seat with four new TORX bolts, then torque the bolts to 15 Nm (11 lb-ft)



22. Reconnect the driver's seat wire harness 2P connector to the driver's seat position sensor, then attach the harness clip.



23. Reconnect the slide motor connector, and attach the harness clip.



24. Reinstall the slide motor cover.



25. Reattach the seat belt buckle switch harness clips.

26. Reattach the seat belt buckle, and torque the center anchor bolt to 32 N.m (24 lb-ft).



27. Reinstall the upper rail outer cover.



28. With the help of an assistant, carefully reinstall the driver's seat into the vehicle. Do not install the bolts yet.



29. Reinstall the head restraint.



30. Reconnect the side airbag connector, the seat wire harness connector, and the harness clips.



31. Do the battery terminal reconnection procedure.

32. Install the driver's seat mounting bolts, and torque them in the sequence shown to 41 N.m (30 lb.ft).



NOTE:



Slide the seat all the way back and install 1 & 2 by hand, then slide the seat forward and install 3 & 4 by hand first, then tighten to the



specified torque using the same order.



33. Reinstall the seat track end covers.



34. Lower the driver's seat cushion all the way down, then install the seat belt lower anchor bolt, and torque it to 32 N.m (24 lb.ft).

35. Install the anchor cover.



36. Clear any DTCs that may have been set during your repair.



37. Make sure the driver's seat is not loose and does not rock.

Body - Running Board Step Plate Pad Doesn't Lay Flat

Running Board Step Pad Does Not Lie Flat (Supersedes 10-032, dated May 27, 2011: See REVISION SUMMARY)



REVISION SUMMARY



This service bulletin was revised extensively; American Honda recommends that you review all sections thoroughly.



SYMPTOM



On Advance running boards with the chrome edge, the black plastic step pad is not lying flat.



PROBABLE CAUSE



The running board step pad is warped.



CORRECTIVE ACTION



Replace the running board.

REPAIR PROCEDURE



NOTE:



These instructions show the left running board being replaced. The right side is similar.

1. Remove and save the six nuts holding the old running board to the brackets.



2. Remove and save the six square head bolts from the grooves in the bottom of the old running board.



3. Slide three square head bolts into each groove on the new running board (six total per side).

4. Align the six running board bolts with the holes in the brackets, and install the running board with six flange nuts. Do not tighten the flange nuts



yet.



5. Center the running board between the front and the rear fenderwells, then torque all the flange nuts to 27 N.m (20 lb-ft).



6. If needed, repeat steps 1 thru 5 on the opposite side.
