While the classic version, with an angle of 18 degrees, was designed more for urban challenges and the skills of a towing vehicle, the Tiguan with the larger 28 degree angle of approach is ideal for all those who frequently drive their Volkswagen in tough terrain. Like the previous model, the new Volkswagen Tiguan is also once again offered in two body versions with different angles of approach. Nonetheless, Volkswagen has further developed the lines of the Tiguan - which is always a four-door model. In Germany, the "Trend & Fun" and "Track & Field" versions are equipped with 16-inch alloy wheels ("Portland" type) as standard; the Tiguan "Sport & Style" and "Track & Style" equipment lines leave the factory on 17-inch alloy wheels ("Philadelphia" type).
