The Sprinter Transfer 55, the largest model in the rural-service model series, is equipped as standard with a complete bus-type rear end featuring an integral luggage compartment flap in place of the double doors used in the smaller Transfer models. Moreover, double fuel after-injection took place to regenerate the standard diesel particulate filter if required. Among other things, Mercedes-Benz also extended its offer of all-wheel-drive cars to include the new E 280 4MATIC and the E 350 4MATIC, the E 280 CDI 4MATIC and the E 320 CDI 4MATIC, under the bonnet of which was fitted the new V6 diesel engine. In particular the four-cylinder diesel engines of models E 200 CDI and E 220 CDI were optimised in detail to further improve output, torque and smoothness. The NEDC consumption of the E 300 BLUETEC is around 7.3 litres of diesel fuel per 100 kilometres. The E 350 CGI Limousine, which accelerates from zero to 100 km/h in 6.8 seconds, uses just 8.7 litres of premium petrol per 100 kilometres (NEDC average).
The Mercedes-Benz GLE350 4MATIC uses an aluminum-block 3.0-liter twin-turbo V-6 making 329 hp and 354 lb-ft of torque, which returns 18/22/20 mpg. Compared with the E 350, which is still available, the 215 kW (292 hp) V6 engine offers 15 kW (20 hp) more output and 15 Newton metres more torque, combined with ten percent lower fuel consumption. The unchanged high peak torque of 540 Newton metres at 1,600 rpm guarantees effortlessly superior performance with low fuel consumption and very clean exhaust gases. The slightly lower peak output of the new BLUETEC model compared with the US version (155 kW/211 hp instead of 165 kW/ 224 hp) resulted from measures designed to improve emissions. Its name makes its mission clear: It's a car for anyone who wants a Mercedes-AMG version of Benz's mid-sized luxury ute but can't stretch for a V-8-powered 63 model, and it's for those drawn to SUVs that look (slightly) like coupes.
Picking a well-rounded E-class model makes sense when looking for a family car while a more hip roadster or detachable hard top may be the ideal vintage pick. The AWD Transit being around 15k less than Sprinter will be a huge selling point. Vehicle manufacturers are increasingly being attracted to partnerships as they seek to share research and development costs in the face of a difficult outlook for the industry.
Extra reserves of traction are vital in these and many other applications. The end result is that the entire system functions just as before, except that now in place of the internal fusible links are five standard external fuses, with associated wires added for powering the fuse panel and returning the fused power back to the relay. On this basis the Mercedes-Benz engineers achieved double pilot injection, which took place within a few milliseconds and significantly reduced the combustion noise of the eight-cylinder. Lap 70 (finish): Heikki took the chequered flag for his first grand prix win; Lewis finished in fifth place and maintained the overall lead. Lap 48: Heikki pitted for the second time (6.8sec) and resumed in fourth place. Lap 25: After the top five had completed their respective first pit stops, Lewis was second behind Massa; Heikki followed in third place. He rejoined the race after 8.8sec in 10th place with fresh tyres and enough fuel for a long final stint.
