The History Of The Gasoline Engine At Mercedes-Benz - PART 8

The braking energy could be fed back into the batteries. The German postal service used 22 vehicles of this type in a practical test in Bonn in 1983. The results, however, were rather sobering: the energy costs were almost twice as high as the cost of comparable diesel vehicles. Another concern of the test, sponsored by the German Federal Ministry for Research, was to try out various methods of drive control and power transmission. However, it turned out that the complex crosswise replacement system normally was dispensable. Making this unlikely - leaving aside special cases like Brazil and recently Sweden - is that a special filling station system would have to be built up, which would be economically viable probably only in very few countries. The SLS AMG's interior design and layout is rather simple with some of the switchgear being borrowed from other Mercedes models like the E-Class. Stuttgart, May 30, 2008 - Mercedes-Benz is moving its Southern Californian advanced design studio from Irvine to a newly-acquired, spacious facility near Carlsbad, in order to strengthen its creative base in the U.S.

As a genuine Mercedes-Benz it can now stand up masterfully to even the harshest icy-cold temperatures. It's truly subjective, but I've never been much of a white-leather-interiors kind of a guy, and even I found this ivory colored hide to be impressively posh. To make the fuel cell drive system fit for production, it would have to be integrated into an uncompromising energy management system of the kind developed in the area of hybrid drives. All the same, at the end of this century at least petroleum production, and perhaps also natural gas production, will have passed its zenith. One battery charge sufficed to cover a maximum distance of 170 kilometers; the sodium-nickel chloride storage battery could be recharged at least a thousand times without any problem. Future developments consequently will depend not least of all on whether we consistently pursue all possible options further and, where indicated, develop new solutions from their combination.

However we didn’t find the right solutions for Michael which was not helped by some vibration problems on his last set of tyres in Q2. Finally, we see that it is precisely the synergies from the development of different systems that lead to new solutions. At the same time, new storage systems like the lithium-ion battery and the fuel cell enter into a competition whose outcome is undecided yet. Like biodiesel, synthetic diesel fuel does not require the development of separate engines, but can be admixed with conventional diesel or used alone in a normal diesel engine. Like the V12 racing engines, the engine with a 90-degree cylinder bank angle had four valves per cylinder and two camshafts per cylinder bank. The 7-times world champion starts Sunday's race from P3 on the grid, just behind the front row which was entirely locked by the two Vodafone McLaren Mercedes contenders. Interior. Inside, Mercedes wants to do all the work for you. The interior has some little bits and pieces that very closely resemble a Mercedes-Benz or a BMW, such as the gauges or the seat controls.

2006 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter Treka Buses are currently available with us. This helps the driver can concentrate on the most important part when you are driving. Of course, at the present time no one can say whether in the long run enough fuel will be on hand to replace the fossil sources of energy. If we succeed in manufacturing enough hydrogen by electrolysis with regenerative electricity, then the fuel cell indeed may have a great future in store for it. Daimler AG has been working in this field together with the Choren company, Freiberg, since 2002. Before long, Choren will be manufacturing this fuel, known by the brand name SunDiesel, on a large scale. A battery switchover device with electronic field control and hydrodynamic torque converter was tested as a more cost-effective variant compared with the usual electronic armature and field control with a fixed gear ratio. In-service field testing of this system has shown that fuel consumption can be cut by between two and ten percent.
