Mercedes-Benz took over Unimog production in 1951 and it received the familiar three-pointed star on the front. And here we have it, ladies and gentlemen: the new Mercedes-Benz has managed to reinvent itself without losing the powerful heritage it caries. First test prototypes for the so-perceived future B 25 AMG have began hitting roads since the end of August. Last December, Vodafone McLaren Mercedes became the first ever Formula 1 team to achieve the coveted Carbon Trust Standard. In the USA alone, an F-CELL fleet made up of some 70 vehicles has covered more than 1.6 million kilometres - saving around 113,500 litres of fuel and almost 270 tonnes of carbon dioxide in the process. According to the "insider", the new B-Class will likely stay in its current, traditional form, which is far more appealing to the clients targeted by this model. The restyled model is produced since 2013 in versions of minibus, van, 2- and 4-door dropside truck, and 2- and 4-door chassis. With the commercial van, the 2018 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter van interior redesign is stealing the show.

The passenger Sprinter van accommodates 12 people comfortably, with two sitting up front and the rest sitting in the remaining three rows. The MBtech Group was established by Daimler AG in 1995. The company develops, integrates and tests automotive components, systems and modules, and employs 2,900 people at locations in Europe, North America and Asia. As Mercedes-Benz has already commenced the market repositioning of the ML with the discontinuation of the "500" version in Europe, this means the large SUV will take on the challenge of competing with the rivals from Ingolstadt and Munchen. Controls are all logically placed and close to hand, and there is plenty of clever storage - we like the twin overhead shelves, the large dash-top trays (the centre one with hinged lid), the large door pockets (with bottle holders) and the cavernous space beneath the two-seater passenger seat. What you are about to see and, most importantly, hear is surely tremendous. Many intelligent devices and assistance systems, once available on high-end cars only, will be offered either as standard or optional equipment in the new A-Class - the ATTENTION ASSIST, the Comand Online and the radar-based Collision Prevention Assist are just a few of them.

Oh, and the cruise control stalk is the same as in most of Mercedes’ cars. If one had doubts over the design of the roadster, it is now very clear it boasts a powerful and organic styling language highlighted through the aggresive one-slat front grille, the polygonal headlights, the clean profile and the curvaceous rear end - all in all, a very balanced, well proportioned and unmistakable presence. The rear apron attachment with the integrated diffuser which is framed by four stainless steel end pipes and the unobtrusive rear spoiler further perfect the sporty appearance. In combination with the entirely newly designed foot mats with an integrated white-lit Carlsson logo, this renders a perfect ambience for the interior. With the new importer of Carlsson began to push more aggressively into the U.S. We specified windowless cargo versions of each entrant because they seemed somehow more in step with the custom vans we expected to encounter at the Nationals. Entry includes a difficult first step up.

Approximately 190,000 miles (300,000 km) have now been covered in this first test phase under highly diverse conditions and documented with these vehicles. Jaguar would have no concern if it were the only game in town, but that's far from the truth. Our takeaway: the new Sprinter is an impressive machine that drives far smaller than it looks and is more comfortable than its work roots might suggest. You get the distinct feeling that the only reason you can hear the engine is because Mercedes felt that occupants might enjoy some background V8-grumble.
