Look for a debut of the new E-Class Wagon in the coming months. The last time we talked to Jaguar design chief Ian Callum, at the 2015 New York motor show in April, he revealed that Jaguar has a few new vehicles coming soon - one of which is likely to resemble the SUV on this page. Though documenting a few avian neighbors isn’t the same as being immersed in the sea-tousled woods, after many days indoors, it’s nice to get away from screens for a while. It’s the latter that is the focus of our latest spy shots. The E39 followed with a 4.9-liter V8 churning out 394 hp and 369 lb-ft, replaced by the award-winning 5.0-liter V10 in the E60 with its 500 hp and 380 lb-ft before BMW rolled out the latest model with a 4.4-liter V8, its twin turbos making up for the two dropped cylinders and 600 cc of displacement to produce 560 hp and 502 lb-ft of torque.
The first-generation E28 M5 packed a 3.5-liter inline-six with 252 horsepower and 243 lb-ft of torque. The second-gen E34 model that followed added an extra 100 cc (and later 200 more) to produce 310 hp and 266 lb-ft. Audi has thankfully decided not to molest the clean looks of the standard Q5 when penning the sportier model. It also means the new GLC will better match rivals such as the BMW X3 and Audi Q5 in terms of comfort and space in the small SUV and crossover segment. With this in mind, it's not surprising that prestige British car-maker Jaguar is plotting another SUV to join the F-PACE, a vehicle that will be revealed at September's 2015 Frankfurt motor show deep in enemy territory - Germany. A four-cylinder turbo should remain the base option, most likely the 2.0-liter unit found in the 2015 C300, which is good for 241 horsepower and 273 pound-feet of torque.
Other standard features of Audi's S models are also found on the SQ5, including a set of quad exhausts, silver mirror caps and mildly different front grille and foglight surrounds. The SQ5 gains a unique set of wheels: 20-inchers are standard, but our tester was fitted with a set of 21-inch rollers. The current GLK’s turbocharged 2.1-liter four-cylinder diesel should carry over, and a gasoline V-6 should also be offer, most likely the turbocharged 3.0-liter V-6 good for 329 hp and 354 lb-ft of torque which is found in the 2015 C400. The 30th Anniversary Edition BMW M5 packs that same 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8, but cranks the output up to a nice, round 600 horsepower and a solid 516 lb-ft of torque to go with it. But even that's being left in the dust by the new special edition you see here. The upcoming F-PACE is expected to become one of Jaguar's top-selling vehicles, and this success will see the company evaluate more SUVs for production.
