In early 2002, together with CHOREN, Daimler began to investigate usage op-portunities for BTL, as well as its economic feasibility and energy balance. No invention, however well devised, cannot be improved upon. Mercedes-Benz engineers achieved the breakthrough in this field through patented technological solutions. Daimler Buses also anticipates a continuation of strong demand and is therefore confident that it will match the high level of unit sales achieved in the prior year. Stuttgart, Jun 01, 2008 - The gasoline-powered fire-fighting pump, invented by Gottlieb Daimler and the subject of a patent application filed with the Imperial Patent Office in Berlin on July 29, 1888, attracted worldwide attention in next to no time. After various design stages, the wedge-pin door lock was finally patented as “a pin lock, especially for motor vehicles” in July 1958. The wedge-pin lock made its debut in a production model in 1959 in the Mercedes-Benz 220 (W 111), the world’s first passenger car to feature a holistically designed safety body. A Daimler fire-fighting pump was also shown at the first British “Horseless Carriage Exhibition” in Tunbridge Wells in 1895. Gottlieb Daimler had sent it to Evelyn Ellis who, together with Frederick R. Simms, managing director of Daimler Motor Syndicate Ltd., proudly presented it to a stunned public.
In the long term, the fuel cell provides the best opportunities for securing uncompromisingly environment-friendly mobility for the automobile: the fuel cell runs on either pure hydrogen or hydrogen media, and is thus a genuine zero-emission power unit: electrical energy is released in a chemical reaction between the hydrogen and atmospheric oxygen to drive an electric motor. The key to all forms of vehicle electrification is the energy storage unit - from hybrids to pure electric driving with fuel cell and battery vehicles. Electric energy comes from a lithium-ion battery pack that offers more storage capacity compared with nickel-metal hydride (NiMH) batteries. The transportation and storage of SunDiesel also requires no modification to the existing fuel infrastructure. High quality and alternative fuels can release further potential in the reduction of fuel consumption and emissions. It is worth to mention that parts’ quality in our web-shop is not worse then in service centres. It is generally assumed that it was bell-founder and fire-fighting pump manufacturer Heinrich Kurtz who gave Gottlieb Daimler the idea of placing his gasoline engine at the service of fire brigades. The Supervisory Board of Daimler AG has approved this decision.
In exercise of the authorization granted by the Annual Meeting of April 9, 2008, the decision of the Board of Management allows for the buyback of 10% or approximately 96.4 million of the outstanding shares for a maximum amount of €6 billion. The shares acquired will later be cancelled without any reduction in Daimler’s share capital. In order to optimize the buyback, shares may also be acquired with the use of derivatives. The share buyback program will be carried out on the stock exchange, whereby derivatives may also be traded outside the stock exchange. In order not to have to idly watch the fire wreaking havoc during this time, the fire brigades carried along gas-powered extinguishers, spraying water into the flames under carbonic-acid pressure. Back in 1910, the fire brigade commissioners still disagreed as to whether the gasoline engine was suitable for driving fire-fighting vehicles or not - despite the fact that they had been using gasoline engines for some 20 years at the time, not to drive vehicles, though, but to drive pumps. Measuring 8 cm longer than standard, the Mercedes-Benz C-Class L offers extra legroom in the back.
Small wonder, therefore, that the Mercedes-Benz engineers did not hesitate to test ESP on real-world roads. Some time earlier, numerous experiments had resulted a little earlier in the first safety door lock, a pin lock, with which Mercedes-Benz reduced the risks considerably. In addition to a rigid passenger cell, front and rear crumple zones and the wedge-pin door lock, these innovations also included a redesigned interior, in which all hazardous corners and edges had been removed. In addition to crystal white bodypanels the electric drive design package comprises white alloy rims, a green tridion cell, green mirror caps and numerous green accents in the interior, which form an attractive contrast to the black seats. From a sliding door built for easy access, to an option an extra-tall ceiling for additional headroom, the features come together for a great mini bus design. This lock design kept doors closed under all circumstances, thus ensuring complete stability of the passenger compartment and protecting the survival space for driver and passengers.
