Acura's Surprise New 2019 ILX Debuts

Unforeseen developments!

Acura has just announced its 2019 ILX has undergone a surprise refresh ahead of its October on-sale date. Just because it arrived unexpectedly, doesn't mean the new sheet metal is unappreciated, as now Acura’s entire lineup sports a cohesive company design language.

It’s an important car for Acura, the company says the ILX actually captures the highest percentage of millennial buyers in-segment and as a result, the brand has stepped up its game to offer a more sporty and sophisticated looking exterior, premium cabin features, and new technology. Key among the upgrades is the inclusion of the AcuraWatch driver assistance tech suite as standard fitment. This includes collision mitigation braking, forward collision warning, lane keep assist, adaptive cruise control, road departure, and lane departure warning.
The revised front fascia centers around Acura’s diamond pentagon grille, a welcome departure from the awkward looking beak. Flanking the new grille are an updated pair of Acura's Jewel Eye LED headlights, this time featuring seven elements instead of five. The rear gains a new decklid, LED taillights, and lower diffuser with exposed exhaust outlets. There’s also a range of wheel designs and five new exterior paint shades.
Moving into the cabin, the ILX is now available with Acura’s dual-screen infotainment system with refreshed software that’s 30 percent faster and more intuitive to use. There are reshaped seats, and new silver finished trimmings, chrome inserts on the dashboard, and a machine-finished push-button start.
Lastly, Acura decided to add an A-Spec appearance package which is available on cars equipped with Premium or Technology packages. A-Spec cars get distinctive dark design elements, bigger wheels, and unique color options both inside and out. The 2.4-liter naturally aspirated four-cylinder carries over from 2018, it produces 201 horsepower and hooks up with an eight-speed dual-clutch gearbox.
